The 2 Quadrant Regenerative Source and Sink DCB Series power supplies from Adaptive Power Systems are powerful yet cost effective Battery test solutions. Designed using state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing, these units combine a DC power supply with a regenerative electronic DC load into a single unit.
All DCB Series models support an auto-ranging constant power V-I output profile that offers both higher voltage and high current from a single unit.

Available in three power levels of 5kW , 10kW, 15kW or 30kW, there are multiple voltage range models up to 2000Vdc and max. current of 360Adc for 3U chassis or 1000Adc for 4U chassis. Available with 380 ~ 480 Vac three phase AC input.
Master/ Slave mode for series or parallel operation available for higher voltage and or power requirements.

OVERVIEW

The DCB Series of precision Regenerative Two Quadrant DC power Supplies uses state of the art field programmable logic array (FPGA) technology to implement a digital power conversion topology that combines a DC source with a Regenerative DC load into a single unit. High efficiency energy recycling back to the grid results in significant energy and HVAC cost savings, especially for large EV battery pack applications.
Packaged in a compact, standard 19” rack mount chassis, these powerful functions are easily accessible through an easy to use, color touch screen based user interface from the front panel or by sending commands over one of several available digital control interfaces.

The ability of the DCB Series to both source and sink DC power using regenerative technology makes them ideally suitable for a E-Mobility development and test applications. With power levels from 5000W to 15000W per 3U chassis or 30000W per 4U chassis and ability to parallel units for higher power needs, a wide range of present and future power demands can be met.

All DCB models are equipped with a flexible auto-ranging output stage which provides higher output voltage at lower output current, or higher output current at lower output voltage, always controlled by the adjustable power set value . Therefore, a wide range of applications can be covered by the use of just one DCB model.

APPLICATIONS

Battery Testing and Forming

With its high power density and programming battery charging profiles, the DCB is ideally suited for forming large batteries up to 2000Vdc as well as performance testing of large EV battery packs. The regenerative capability of the DCB in load mode results in an energy efficient and cost effective complete battery test system that can be scaled in power using the Master/Slave mode of both units.

DC Motor Testing

The DCB Series bi-directional DC source/sink is able to both drive and brake DC Motors allows regenerated power from the DC motor to be recycled to the power grid during test.

Product Development and Test

With the ability to provide programmable over-voltage, over-current and over-power, the DCB power supply can safely be used to power up early prototypes without feat of  losing time or money due to scarce prototype failure.

Avionics DC Power

Capable of supporting ±270Vdc (using 2 units in master/slave series), the DCB Series is a good choice for testing regenerative DC power avionics loads like electric flaps and landing gear subsystems.
