Adaptive Power Systems introduces the APF Series High Power AC Sources
New models cover wide range of AC test and frequency conversion applications.
Irvine, CA, April 16th, 2025 – Adaptive Power Systems, a leader in advanced power testing solutions, is proud to introduce the APF Series, a cost-effective line of high-performance power systems designed for precision, reliability, and ease of use. The APF Series are available in Single (APS1000 Series) or Three Phase (APS3000 Series) models. The APS1000 series offers models up to 45 kVA with single output phase configurations or 15kvA up to 100kVA APS3000 models for the three-phase applications..
Engineered for high-power testing and simulation applications, the APF Series delivers clean, stable power with excellent performance characteristics, including low harmonic distortion (THD ≤ 0.5%) and excellent output regulation (≤ 0.5%). These features ensure accuracy and consistency, even in the most demanding testing environments.
“With the APF Series, we are addressing the growing need for reliable and cost effective high-power test solutions without unnecessary complexity,” said Herman van Eijkelenburg, Product Director at Adaptive Power Systems. “This new series reflects our commitment to providing a wide range of power test solutions that empower engineers and test technicians to achieve superior testing results.
A dual range voltage output capability allows support of continuous rated load currents of 500 ARMS per phase at 115 V output or 250 ARMS at 230V. As an optional feature, overcurrent conditions of up to 200% of rating can be supported for 2s to ride through inrush current events.
The APF Series has an intuitive front panel user interface that makes setting output voltage, frequency and current limit simple and convenient. The new models are available with 208 V or 480 V three phase input and convert this power to any desirable voltage and frequency output combination up to 500 Hz and 310Vrms L-N / 537 Vrms L-L to power up large units under test or an entire facility that needs stable and tightly regulated AC power.
Key Features of the APF Series:
- Clean and Stable Power: With a total harmonic distortion (THD) ≤ 0.5%, users can rely on accurate and consistent performance, even in the most demanding conditions.
- Advanced Programmability: Features include STEP and RAMP programmable functions, independent phase voltage adjustments, and phase angle control, making it ideal for simulating a wide range of electrical disturbances.
- Flexible Voltage and Frequency Range: Supports output voltages from 0–310V, with options for up to 600V, and frequencies from 45–500Hz, with higher frequency range options for wild frequency avionics power test if needed.
- Overload Capability: Optional overload capabilities support inrush currents, making it suitable for testing inductive loads such as motors.
- User-Friendly Interface: The 7” color touch screen and standard remote-control interfaces (RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet) simplify setup and monitoring.
- Safety and Compliance: Safety features include under/over-voltage protection, over-current protection, and over-temperature protection, as well as CE and RoHS certifications to protect both the device under test (DUT) and the power source
Example Test Applications:
- Frequency Conversion: Accurately simulating various frequency conditions.
- Home Appliance Testing: Ensuring the reliability of consumer electronics by simulating real-world voltage conditions.
- Motor and Transformer Testing: Providing precise frequency and voltage adjustments for optimal performance evaluation.
- Medical Equipment Testing: Deliver stable and clean power for medical devices.
- Lighting and EMC Laboratory Use: Meeting industry standards for compliance testing.
